Privacy Policy

Overview

ResumeTune (resumetune.io) is a free tool that checks your resume for ATS (Applicant Tracking System) compatibility. This policy explains what data we collect, why, and how long we keep it. We do not require an account or registration to use the free check.

This policy is a plain-language description of our actual technical practices, written and maintained by the team building ResumeTune. It is not a substitute for legal advice, and we recommend it be reviewed by qualified counsel before relying on it for compliance purposes.

What we collect

Resume content: when you upload a resume, we extract its text to generate your compatibility score. We never store the original file you upload — only the extracted text, and only temporarily (see Data retention below).

Job posting text: if you optionally paste a job posting, we process it the same way, temporarily, to compare it against your resume.

Session identifier: a random session ID (rt_session) stored in a cookie so we can show you your own results. It contains no personal information by itself.

Preferences: your language choice (rt_locale) and cookie consent choice (rt_consent) are stored in your browser's local storage, not sent to our servers.

Basic technical data: standard request metadata (such as IP address and browser type) is processed transiently by our hosting provider for security and rate-limiting purposes, and is not stored in our database.

How we use it

To generate your ATS compatibility score, keyword analysis, and format checks.

If you choose to purchase the paid report (currently unavailable while payment processing is being restored), to generate an AI-improved draft of your resume for your review.

To keep the service running reliably and securely, including basic rate-limiting and abuse prevention.

Cookies, analytics, and advertising

We use a session cookie required for the service to function, and — only after you accept our cookie banner — Google Analytics 4 and Google Ads to understand traffic. See our Cookie Policy for the full list.

We display advertising through Google AdSense on the educational guide pages only (never on the Home upload screen, never on a results page, and never on About, Contact, Terms, Privacy, or Cookie pages). AdSense only loads after you accept the cookie banner, and we only ever request non-personalized ads — meaning ads are not based on your browsing history or a personal advertising profile. Non-personalized ads may still use cookies for basic functions like frequency capping and fraud prevention.

If you decline the cookie banner, none of the above (analytics, Google Ads, AdSense) loads at all.

Third-party service providers

Supabase: hosts our database (analysis results and temporary resume/job text) under a service-role connection with row-level security enabled.

Cloudflare: hosts and serves the application.

Google: provides Analytics, Ads, and AdSense as described above.

Stripe: our optional paid upgrade normally uses Stripe to process payment. This is currently postponed and inactive — no payment processing is happening right now. When it resumes, Stripe processes your card details directly; we never receive or store your card number.

Data retention

Your extracted resume text and job posting text are automatically deleted (set to empty) 24 hours after upload, unless tied to a succeeded paid purchase — and since paid purchases are currently inactive, this 24-hour deletion applies to everyone right now.

Your score, keyword findings, and format-check results remain associated with your session so you can revisit your result page, but the underlying resume text itself does not persist beyond 24 hours.

The session cookie itself expires after 24 hours.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete your data, and to object to certain processing (such as analytics or advertising — which you can already opt out of via the cookie banner). Since we don't use accounts, most data tied to you is already deleted automatically within 24 hours as described above.

International data transfers

Our service providers (Supabase, Cloudflare, Google, and Stripe when active) may process data in countries other than your own, including the United States, under their own respective safeguards.

Children's privacy

ResumeTune is not directed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect data from them.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the product changes. Material changes will update the date at the top of this page.
